Photography Photo Hunt

This photo hunt was created by my photography I teacher at Tarleton State University. I was able to take the photos in Fort Worth, Texas, my home, and at work! I had a lot of fun exploring and figuring interesting ways to get these photos accomplished. Some tasks were simple, on the other hand, some were not so simple. Below you will see the types of photos we were told to take. After that,  you will see the picture I created for that topic. Finally, after looking at the picture, I will have a brief description about the photo. I hope you enjoy!

1. Wild Life

I took this photo of a bird (the type is something I cannot remember) at the Fort Worth Zoo. This bird was located on the other side of the enclosure when I first started to take the photo. Next thing I know, the bird miraculously disappeared. So I take my face away from the camera to see where he went. I see the bird run, flying towards the glass wall. He stands on the concrete where the glass wall is located in front of me. There is no room for him to face forward, so he keeps his head facing to his left side. I look at my friend, Maria, and say "he wants his picture taken! He has now made my wild life photo easy!"
I like this photo because you can see all of the details in his feathers. The details in his feathers are the first thing that I notice when I look at this photo.

2. Art
This photo was taken in a little ally way near Downtown Fort Worth. This ally way was loaded with paintings on the walls from top to bottom. The artists that painted these are so talented.  While I was capturing the photos for this project, it was so cold and windy that it felt like a wind tunnel. My friend and I were running and snapping photos as quickly as we possibly could while still trying to pay attention to every bit of detail in every painting. We told ourselves that we need to come back when it is warmer so we can look at these more and see the new one someone is working on currently.

3. Foot Posing
I hate feet. Feet are absolutely disgusting in my opinion. So instead of taking a photo of bare feet, I took a photo of boots. This photo was taken at my job inside of the computer lab. I had an amazing teacher, who always has cute boots on, prop her feet up on the teacher desk in front of the classroom. I stood by the side of the desk, in front of the desk, and even on top of the desk. This specific photo was taken with me standing on top of the desk. The whole time I am laughing because it was so weird for me to take pictures of someones feet. Since I did not enjoy the desk top being the background of this photo, I went to photoshop for the first time and photoshopped a wooden background into the photo as a new table top.

4. Fast Food is Gourmet
Fast food gourmet? What!? Well I actually figured out a way to do this. I went to Captain D's, went through the drive through, ordered my favorite meal on the menu (shrimp, broccoli, and macaroni and cheese) , came home, put it all on a plate, and there you have it! Fast food gourmet!

5. UFO/Alien
UHHH... This one was hard to come up with. My boyfriend's mom messaged me and said "we have a stitch toy, would you like to use that for your project?" So, of course, I said "YES!" I wasn't too sure on how to take this photo. I just kept thinking of the scene from Lilo and Stitch where he is dressed like Elvis, playing the guitar standing on the beach. So, that is exactly what I did. I took a picture of Elvis Stitch ad photoshopped a beach background into the  picture to get what I had in my head as a reality.

6. Number Sequence
This one is probably one of my favorites! I love the close up picture of this type writer. I may have take 10-15 different photos of this type writer at different angles and distances to find the photo I liked best. Once I found the angle and distance I liked best, I took about 8 more photos and picked the one I thought looked the best.
I like this photo because of the vintage look.

7. Big City Life
This one block in Downtown Fort Worth was so windy, my friend and I thought we were going to get blown away.  While I was taking this photo, I was holding onto the light post next to the street trying not to get blown away. I am very surprised that I was able to capture a great street/building photo with all of the crazy wind going on. As soon as the stop sign turned into a walk sign, we ran as fast as we could into the H&M across the street to get out of the wind. Eventually, we did come out to walk around a bit and take more pictures and that one block was the most windiest spot we had been to.

8. Smelly
The first thing I thought of for the smelly photo was a bathroom. Bathrooms smell sooooo bad sometimes! Luckly this bathroom did not smell terrible! I am also so very glad that no one walked in as I was taking the picture, that would have been extremely awkward. However, a lady and her daughter did walk in as soon as I handed my friend my camera.... almost busted....

9. Not Video Game but a Game
This one was hard too. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to photograph a board game. I sooo badly wanted to take pictures of Monopoly, but unfortunately that didn't happen. I sadly do not own that game.... But, I do own Sorry, so that is what I had to photograph for this photo hunt! I tried many different angles to capture this game board. This one is unfortunately my least favorite, but I don't think it is terrible. What I do like about it are the colors! The colors are just so bright and vibrant. I think that is what makes the picture.

10. Poem
I thought this one would be difficult to capture. I knew I had a Harvard Poetry book at home, but I am so scared to open it because it is so fragile. If you open it from the front the pages will start falling out of the binding. So, I opened the book to the middle. I add some pink dried up roses around the book, a red dried up rose on top of the book with some baby's breath as well as a pinecone necklace, and I placed some vintage scrapbooking paper underneath the book. Everything, other than the book and scrapbooking paper, came from something special. I used each of these items because usually poetry involves feelings.
The pinecone necklace was a gift from my grandmother. She loved this necklace. She gave me this necklace hoping I would love it as much as she does, and she was right! The look on her face when she first gave it to me was priceless. I am so happy to be able to wear this necklace for her to see.
The pink roses surrounding the book and the baby's breath came from a bouquet that I caught at my boyfriend's, sister's wedding (who is also one of my best friends) about 3 years ago.
The red rose on top of the book came from a student I worked with my first year as a teacher's aide. The student gave me the rose on Mothers day. When she gave me the rose, I knew, at that moment, that I had made an impact on that child's life. I showed her this photo the day after I took and I asked her if she knew where that rose came from. She said no. So I looked at her and smiled and said "that is the rose you gave me on Mother's day last year." She looked at me with the biggest glow in her eyes and with the biggest smile. I could tell I made her day by keeping that rose.
